Introduction:

Process variations create quality problems involving costly rework or scrap. Standardised work is a Lean manufacturing tool that helps eliminate variations by requiring each step in a process to be defined and performed uniformly every time. Standardised work establishes the most efficient way to perform a task or function using available equipment, people, and material.

The benefits of standardised work include documentation of the current process for all shifts, reductions in variability, easier training of new operators, reductions in injuries and strain, and a baseline for improvement activities. Standardising the work adds discipline to the culture, an element that is frequently neglected but essential for Lean to take root. Standardised work is also a learning tool that supports audits, promotes problem solving, and involves team members in developing Poka-Yokes.

This 1-day training will provide a detailed analysis of what constitutes good work standards and discuss how to design and implement them. This is an interactive course that will provide participants with essential information and knowledge on how to create more effective standardised work instructions.
