Introduction:
It is common for executives to be promoted to management positions based on their technical skills. However,
many of them have never had training in the area of leading and managing people.
One fundamental change in the strategy of managing people in today's environment is the concept of “quiet
leadership” rather than directing and controlling. Managers need to enhance their leadership and management skills
by developing their ability to lead and manage people more effectively.
This workshop enables managers to learn essentials of people management skills and reflect and improve on their own
management styles.

Participants will learn that employees/subordinates today have different needs from their predecessors. They
expect more from their managers, leaders and organization. They want to develop personally; they value freedom
and independence. With the constraints of working within a system, participants will brainstorm on what needs
to be changed when leading people.
- Common Pitfalls of Leading People
Participants will learn about the common pitfalls in managing people and how to avoid them. They will be
introduced to real organizational case studies that demonstrate what people managers do to lose the respects of
their employees. They will connect with what they see in their own organization and discuss implications.
- Developing Essential People Management Skills
Participants will learn how to develop essentials skills for leading people in the current organizational
environment. The skills include:
